1. OUTSIDE TODAY!!
Today's Agenda:
1. Prepping for Field Log:
- Find a buddy
- Sign on Martell's Map WHERE you will be filming.
- Watch your last field log video
- Look Up:
- Day, Date
- Approximate Time
- Temp/Wind if any
- Sunrise/Sunset times
- Importance of Silence:
- Our brain is constantly pinging from one distraction/stimulation to the next--movie, episode, song, meme, email, video, text, snapchat, like, comment, tweet, etc.
- We are addicted to the distractions and FAST PACE- people, tech, audio/visual media
- Constant FAST PACE can lead to anxiety, depression
- Can also make it difficult to reach long-term goals because you can'd focus on one thing for very long.
- You must practice slowing down and being PRESENT-- pay attention to what is happening around you in the moment it is happening.
- You will prove that you are mentally strong and in control of your mind if you can be quiet/still/present for more than a few minutes
- Spending quiet time in nature fights anxiety and depression
- Don't contribute to noise pollution
- Disturbs wildlife and the filming of your peers
- You won't see anything cool if you don't have the patience to be still/quiet
- Buddy Up
- BE QUIET
- Go to your filming location
- 5 Minutes of silent writing in your film location prior to filming
- Take something to write with/on
- Focus on your surroundings.
- Write whatever comes to mind while focusing on your surroundings.
- Record what you see/hear/smell/feel
- Evidence of animal activity? (See/hear birds, squirrels, tracks)
- Ground conditions? (Wet, dry, muddy, snowy)
- How does it feel? (cold, humid, windy, dry, hot, peaceful)
- How does it look? (dark, bright, bare, etc.)
- Context (Is it a very warm day after several cold days? Has a storm just come through? Is it supposed to rain later?)
- Work Efficiently. We're going in after about 20 minutes OR when everyone finishes.
- Be responsible-- It's a privilege to come out here. Don't make me ground you!
- Stay on the path
- Take nothing but pictures
- Leave nothing but footprints
- Upload Field Log
- WorkPacket #4
