Describe your favorite place.
This is tough... Do I name a place I've traveled to and would like to return to? Or do I pick a place I visit often?
Enormous feats of architecture, dancing lights, hordes of tourists, infectious energy-- Las Vegas is one of my favorite places on earth. It might sound cheesy, and that's because it is, in fact, cheesy. However, that metaphorical cheese is exactly what I love about it. All the flash and glitter and excitement make it easy to forget the daily challenges of life at home. It is sensory overload. I get so consumed by the awe and amusement I feel while people-watching as I explore the giant casinos, that I simply have no time to worry about getting the septic tank pumped or giving the cats their heart medicine.
The excitement, however, is not the reason I've been to Las Vegas 5 times. I go for the food. Some people eat to live, but I live to eat, and Las Vegas is a foodie paradise. While buffet food sometimes gets a bad rap, casinos in Las Vegas compete to provide the best, world-class, gourmet dining experiences all in an effort to get tourists in their doors and, hopefully dropping some coin in the gaming area. I'm not really gambler, but I take advantage of this competition by sampling the excellent cuisine.
